Kick-Off of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

"As we mark this International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, let us renew our commitment to a world where every woman and girl can enjoy dignity and equality, living free from all forms of violence and harm...It will take all of us to ensure that women and girls everywhere can navigate their futures safely and without fear. They must know that the world stands by their side, just as UNFPA does every day." Said Dr. Natalia Kanem, UNFPA Executive Director.

The annual 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence will serve as a powerful platform to raise awareness, foster dialogue, and drive action to eliminate violence against women and girls. In 2024, UNFPA Tanzania plans to lead transformative activities across the country, aiming to build partnerships and deliver impactful programs to protect survivors and prevent future violence.

This year’s theme, “United for Change: Ending Gender-Based Violence Now,” will emphasize the urgent call to action, collaboration, and the importance of centering survivors in all efforts. Through a series of initiatives, UNFPA Tanzania is set to reaffirm its commitment to creating a future where no one lives in fear of violence.
